Presentation:
This presentation will discuss the assistive technology (AT) assessment process with specific focus on the SETT Framework. Additionally, an array of AT tools for reading will be discussed including: providing books in an audio format, text-to-speech software for internet usage; optical character recognition software (OCR) for accessing paper copies; and AT tools for dysgraphia/written expression.
Speaker:
As an occupational therapist, Van Allen Lemmon has primarily worked in the school setting. Throughout his 18-year career as an occupational therapist, Van has had a strong interest in assistive technology. In 2014, he completed Bowling Green State University’s Assistive Technology Certificate Program. Van is the proprietor of Central Ohio Assistive Technology, LLC. In this role, Van completes independent assistive technology assessments. Van also serves as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator for the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program at Shawnee State University.
